Pistorius receives five-year prison term for shooting death of girlfriend

Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison for the 2013 shooting death of his girlfriend, Judge Thokozile Masipa announced today. Masipa also handed down a suspended sentence of three years for a weapons charge.
------------------------------
The prosecution had been seeking a sentence of ten years for the South African athlete known as the Blade Runner. After a six month trial he was acquitted last month of  premeditated murder but was convicted of the lesser charge of culpable homicide. The conviction carried a maximum sentence of 15 yrs and a minimum of probation, giving the Judge a wide range of options. After following this trial for its duration, the sense this man basically got away with cold blooded murder hangs heavy over my own opinion of the outcome considering he could be eligible for house arrest after serving as little as ten months in jail.

Stuttering Obama left talking to himself as crowd makes quick exodus...

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama made a rare appearance on the campaign trail on Sunday with a rally to support the Democratic candidate for governor in Maryland, but early departures of crowd members while he spoke underscored his continuing unpopularity.
--------------
Judging from the article, it was a tough day for Obama as the crowd walks out in droves during his speech. You will know when it is over when the caddies walk off the course and Ron Klain is left tagging along behind the president with a nine iron and a putter while pages of Ebola talking points flutter across the course from his hip pocket!

Though bloated, fortunately president Obama was not injured in the mishap!

In today`s political world of disinformation, spin, and distortion...a little humor is in order from time to time.

Obama discovered a leak in the roof over The White House dining room so he called a repairman.
“When did you first notice the leak?” The repairman asked.
“Last night," Obama replied, "when it took me two hours to finish my soup!”

Kim Jong Un apparently not Un done as North Korean Leader...

SEOUL, Oct 14 (Reuters) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, using a cane for support, visited a housing development, state media reported on Tuesday, ending a lengthy absence from public view that had fueled speculation over his health and grip on power in the secretive country.
------
Judging from the snippet from the Reuters article, (above), that can be viewed here in its entirety, the N. Korean strongman has obviously not met an early demise as so many had come to believe. It seems the pudgy president was indeed suffering health issues after all. The 31 year old leader, who assumed power in late 2011 after the death of his father, Kim Jong Il, was rumored to have been deposed in a coup along with other such accusations of removal from office that proved to be unfounded. Kim had gained a noticeable amount of weight since taking command of the isolated and derelict nation, and was thought to suffer from gout and high blood pressure that also inflicted his father.

The tightly controlled North Korean press had earlier released a statement that claimed Kim suffered from an "uncomfortable physical condition". The deadly reality of North Korean politics has left many a top ranking official in a permanent "uncomfortable physical condition" from which they, do not recover. Just last year as Kim was consolidating power, his own uncle, Jang Sung-taek and his top advisers, were believed to have been executed by being fed to a pack of ravenous dogs as Kim looked on in approval. We can only hope the next rumor of Kim`s demise will provide a more "uncomfortable outcome" for this deranged dictator...

U.S. Troops to use Turkish military bases

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/13/world/middleeast/police-chief-of-embattled-province-killed-in-iraq.html

After dithering for weeks while watching the bloodbath with ISIS from across their border, Turkey finally allows the U.S. to use several of their bases for 'some' military training and operations. The NY Times article (linked above) dosen`t go into specifics of the agreement, but at least it is a start in the right direction from our NATO ally that often acts as anything but that...

Is Obama playing 'follow the lead' in Syria?

It sure looks that way as Putin gives a stern warning..."Keep your hands above the belt and hang on!"

The ever growing realities of the Facebook world...

The pen bounced across the floor, coming to rest next to the startled dog who looked anxiously at his master slumped precariously over the desk. The pad, laden with a final writing, lay beneath the still figure, its words offering a cold reflection into the mind of a tortured soul. The room held an eerie silence as I slowly pushed open the heavy oak door, it groaned under its own weight as if in pain. A small dog sat nervously beside the figure draped over the desk, it remained cautious and made not a sound as I approached, sadness lacing its eyes as it carefully watched my every move. It offered no sign of aggression as I gently pulled the pad from beneath the victim and walked to the open window, the bright morning sunlight affording me an opportunity to view the message. As I carefully read its content, the situation slowly came into focus, I had seen it before, it was sadly becoming a common occurrence. It simply read..."Please do not wake me. I was up all night on Facebook...PS, walk the dog"!

Penn State payoffs set to begin...

Penn State says Sandusky settlements appear close

HARRISBURG, Pa. –  Penn State's negotiator for civil claims involving former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky said Friday the school has been in talks with 28 people and settlement discussions with some claimants could soon produce results.
The number of claimants is 18 more than were involved in Sandusky's criminal case this summer, when eight young men testified they were assaulted by Sandusky. Prosecutors were not able to identify two victims.

U.S. Court of Appeals swats Obama...

Court to Obama: What Part of ‘The’ Do You Not Understand?

(CNSNews.com) - The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled today that if the word “the” in the U.S. Constitution carries its customary meaning—which the court forcefully affirmed it does—than President Barack Obama violated the Constitution and usurped power from Congress by appointing persons to federal office without securing the constitutionally required consent of the Senate.

Hillary looks like Hell! According to Bill...'Just Say NO!'

Emotional and defiant, Clinton answers Congress on Benghazi attack

WASHINGTON — Defiant in one of her final appearances in office, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told Congress on Wednesday that she accepts responsibility for security lapses in the deadly Sept. 11 attack on U.S. posts in Libya, but she also stressed that the assault was part of a broader war the United States faces against extremists in North Africa.

...At a youthful 65 years of age, Hillary,'The liberal Grandmother no one ever wanted,' dosen`t look a day over 82. If anything, she could pass for a weathered 75 with a bit of make-up!

The dreaded second term begins...

Obama sworn in to second term at private ceremony

President Obama was sworn in Sunday to a second term during a private ceremony at the White House. The oath was administered by Chief Justice John Roberts. The president was surrounded by his immediate family and was sworn in with a bible belonging to the family of his wife, first lady Michelle Obama.

...I have scheduled a root canal for tomorrow`s public inauguration ceremony...it isn`t often a root canal is the highlight of the day!

Ex New Orleans Mayor Nagin Indicted...

Ex-New Orleans mayor charged with bribery, fraud...

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was indicted Friday on charges that he used his office for personal gain, accepting payoffs, free trips and gratuities from contractors while the city was struggling to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
The charges against Nagin are the outgrowth of a City Hall corruption investigation that already has resulted in guilty pleas by two former city officials and two businessmen and a prison sentence for a former city vendor.

...The wheels of justice turn ever so slow, but this cretin political thug has finally been indicted and it couldn`t have happened to a more deserving corrupt individual. Throw the book at this racist fraud and put him well below the jailhouse where he belongs!

Obama voter falls victim to raging storm...

It was a horrible night, the blinding snow lashing out from all directions as I pushed on through the wilderness. I heard a faint cry from afar, I strained to make out the location with my every fiber of humanity. After a quick search of the area I came upon a wayward lad stuck in a crevasse, only his orange and purple hair visible above the drifting snow as he struggled for survival. His backpack lay nearby, covered in Obama/Biden 2012 stickers.
"Are you an Obama voter?" I screamed through the raging gale.
"Yes, yes I am," came his tart reply.
There was nothing I could do, I quickly stowed the rescue ropes and gear back onto my snowmobile and pressed on to save others...

Obama Gun Control Initiatives..."REPUGNANT AND COWARDLY"

Obama Plan: Assault Ban...

The president follows the lead of the Taliban...hiding behind children to promote a political agenda. President Obama called for a new assault-weapons ban and a 10-round limit on magazines while using children as emotional props during his speech that promotes a comprehensive plan to curb gun violence that includes 23 steps he would take without congressional action. The majority of his rhetoric amounts to nothing more than pure political grandstanding and theatrics...he dosen`t have the votes to pass anything substantial and he knows it, but it won`t stop him from demonizing gun owners, Congress, and the NRA in his usual divisive manner we have come to expect!
