Obama authorizes 1,500 additional U.S. troops to Iraq

Is this the beginning of a continuing 'mission creep'?
{A senior military official says that American military advisory teams will now go to Iraq's western Anbar province where Islamic State militants have been gaining ground and slaying men, women and children.
The teams are part of President Barack Obama's new directive to expand the U.S. mission in Iraq by deploying another 1,500 U.S. troops to serve as advisers, trainers and security personnel.}

The president, who bragged of bringing the troops home and ending the war in Iraq just three short years ago, appears to be headed in the opposite direction as the crisis that is engulfing the region continues to grow. The announcement comes on top of broadening airstrikes throughout Syria and Iraq as the murderous 'Islamic State' rampage leaves death and destruction in it`s wake across a wide swath of both nations. The Iraq army has proven to be anything other then a stellar fighting force as thousands have fled in fear when faced with the advancing ISIS columns, tossing aside their weapons and blending into the background in civilian clothes.
Airstrikes alone cannot deter such a vicious and hardened enemy set on complete destruction and domination of anyone with a differing religious interpretation of Islam, be it Sunni or Shiite, and absolutely no tolerance for any other religious denomination. Obama faces two hard choices...pour advisers and hardware into the ranks of the crumbling Iraq army or surrender the region to the marauding killers. Arming the Kurds, and the ragtag coalition of various other fighters, is at best a holding action under the best of conditions, as is being witnessed in the streets of Kobani in a battle that has raged for months in a virtual stalemate. All of this chaos and death for the simple reason that the Obama administration played politics instead of securing a Status of Forces Agreement with the Iraqi government to leave a contingent of american forces as a buffer against such aggression.
