Virgin Galactic Pilots Involved in Crash Identified

The pilot killed in the crash has been identified as 39 yr. old Michael Alsbury of Tehachapi, California. He was the co-pilot of the ill fated flight and an accomplished pilot with over 1,800 hours in various aircraft.
Seriously injured in the mishap was 43 yr. old pilot Peter Siebold. Both were well experienced with the experimental craft and two of only five pilots rated by the FAA to operate the vehicle. Alsbury was not the first employee of Virgin Galactic to die in their quest to make space tourism a reality, three engineers were killed in 2007 in a test stand explosion that left another three critically injured.
